ANSALDO T&D, a Toshiba Company, contracted with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and energy in 2008 for the construction and development of the 400 kv electrical substation “Tirana 2” located in Kashar, Tirana. The project was financed through a 25 million euro soft loan by the Italian Government through the the Italian Development Cooperation in cooperation with Albania’s Ministry of Economy and the Albanian Transmission System Operator.

The Prime Minster of Albania Mr Berisha attended the inauguration of the ceremony of the realization of the 400/220/110 kV substation, an important achievement which will play a significant role for the strengthening and modernization of the electro-energetic system in Albania. It is part of the interconnection line with Montenegro, and will soon also to be linked with Kosovo and other countries in the region.

The whole project was supported by a team of senior lawyers of KALO & ASSOCIATES advising on a range of legal issues including electrical energy, tax and construction, etc.
